4Kept water from freezing in below 0 temp
By Shopaholic
So far the water bottle has done it's job and kept water from freezing when the temperature dipped below zero.
Unfortunately, my rabbit does not understand how to use it, as he is used to a rollerball-type waterbottle. This waterbottle has a small pin that needs to be pressed down to dispense the water. I have tried it with my finger and it actually dispenses quite easily, but my bunny hasn't figured it out yet. He has only had it for a day, but he doesn't show any interest in drinking from it and he actually waits until I bring his regular water bottle to him to drink.
I'll update this review once he actually learns how to use the bottle.

4Pretty good, but needs improvement...
By Andrew Meador
I've used these for three years. The first set was somewhat exposed to the elements in NE West Virginia (snow, ice, rain, etc...). They were under a small covering so they only got light exposure to the elements from wind blowing it in. The first set had the cap angled to the side of the bottle. This was nice as it allowed easy access to opening the lid for refilling. The new ones have the cap aligned with the side of the bottle with the nipple (like in the picture). I tried for half an hour on both bottles to get the cap at either 90 or 180 degrees from the nipple side, but couldn't do it, at least not without the whole cap being loose. So we're having a harder time filling the bottles.
I don't like the very short power cords. I use two of these on two different rabbit cages and have a hard time getting them both on one extension cord. The cord has a wire spiral wire around it to help stop chewing, but it also makes the cords rigid, so the full length of their short cords isn't 100% usable - especially if you hang the cord below the extension cord to stop water from running down the power cord to the extension cord. It would really be nice to have another couple of feet added to these power cords.
One of our previous bottles (same model) also developed a short. I put a voltmeter on the cage the bottle was hanging on and got a 90 volt reading. It was giving my wife and kids a good bite, enough that they said it hurt a little and they didn't want to touch the cage. Scary! The short developed a while after moveing the cages into a fully enclosed structure where there was no exposure to the elements - other than the cold.
The short issue is why we bought these new bottles. They are in a fully covered area, so no more snow, ice, rain, etc... is getting to them. Maybe the semi-exposure initially weakened something and caused the short due to weakened materials? We'll see.
They do work well. They have pretty good spring straps that hold them to the cages. The rabbits are comfortable with the nipple drinker machanism. The lowest temps we've had with these bottles so far was -20 degrees F and the water did not freeze. So they do what they are supposed to do well. The 4 star rating was due to short power cord and lid issue which are really just minor issues. As the semi-weather exposure may have had something to do with the short issue, I didn't penalize for this - we'll see how it goes with these new ones which will never have any weather exposure.
Hope this review is helpfull!

5Excellent solution to frozen water bottle
By CJ
This heated water bottle makes it so much easier to provide fresh water for our outside bunnies! It took a day or two for them to figure it out, but they're doing great with it now, and with the frigid temps we've been having in MN, it's nice not to have to bring bowls of warm water out to them in the morning.
